Jhonen Vasquez wants you

That sparks a scathing response from another commenter: “Charles, why is it that people like you continue to believe that creators literally OWE them the blood, tears and shit that is required to birth a creative work? You and every other ‘fan’ are under the impression until the creator you supposedly admire has fulfilled this mystifying debt to you, some asshole who probably downloaded their Zim collection from Bittorent, they are not allowed to spend their time in any other pursuit? That because you resentfully stood in line at a convention for an autograph once, you MUST BE APPEASED?”

The sum total of my World of Warcraft knowledge comes from an episode of South Park, yet I still found this item on Wired’s Game Life blog interesting/amusing: Cartoonist Jhonen Vasquez (Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, Invader Zim) is recruiting members for his WoW guild, the Order of the Tape Worm, whose members include such luminaries as Roman Dirge, Rikki Simons, Rick Gauger and Chris “Frodo” Furniss.

Unfortunately, the comments thread at Game Life starts out on a sour note as the first poster writes: “How about, instead of wasting time playing WOW , he delivers on the zim or jthm games we all richly deserve? or even better, more original work with lasting appeal in several mediums? How many creative souls will this bullshit game devour?”
